Indeed, nearly every factor of the How is covered in great detail, by elucidating the structural underpinnings of venture capital down to the nuts and mounting bolts. A novice with no knowledge of VC lingo can come out of this book with an impressively fluent command of the dynamics necessary to understand the spaces.
More impressive, in my opinion, is his explication of the Why;
After describing his brief period in Investment Banking while attending an Ivy League University, the author shares his path that brought him into a scenery that he genuinely seems passionate and excited about, a passion that exudes from the page. The sense of community, individual duty, and probability that meet at the intersection of Venture Capital.
After searching for a book to teach me the Exactly how, I coincidently found a book that taught me to ask a more important question, a question with infinitely more implications then the one I got sought, the question of Why.
Congratulations., This is the best book I use read on learning about venture capital. The data was very clear, direct, and gave me a much better understanding about VC. I enjoyed reading the author's personal stories relevant to VC, personal social networking, and thinking like an investor. Highly recommend adding this book to your collection., #BreakIntoVC is a fantastic introduction into the world of capital raising and tech financing. Written not merely for aiming investors but also for entrepreneurs and startup creators, #BreakIntoVC explains in extensive strokes basic accounting rules, financial modelling, the endeavor capital process and mindset, and (naturally) how to be able to into VC. While the quantitative sections are designed towards interviewing for endeavor capital positions and are thus not too detailed, Miles offers enough fine detail for readers to know the underlying concepts and thinking behind the models and equations while simultaneously aiming readers to more advanced materials for those so inclined.
Additionally, the previous chapter in #BreakIntoVC is composed of interviews with students and entrepreneurs looking to break into the capital raising space (and many who alreay have done so). This particular compilation of advice from individuals from various backgrounds is worth a read for anyone enthusiastic about working in venture capital/growth equity., I will be an MBA graduate with a couple of years of working experience seeking to transition into capital raising. I’ve read several profession books from major web publishers and numerous online blogs about the same topic, and talked to several venture capitalists. I have to say this is a must-read for anyone who is trying to make the same career transition. The publication is very well written, very informative and is structured in a way that can quickly help you comprehend how the endeavor capital world works. Given that I already graduated, some details in the publication are not directly applied to me, but the lessons I learned are still beneficial for me to form a game plan to go forward.
Typically the best thing I found from the book is the research-driven approach that Bradley used to crack into VC. After reading the book, I determined to give attention to one investment area that interests me. Since then I find that my learning about the VC world is much more structured, and my conversations with people in the VC and startup world are more interesting. I asked more targeted questions, and the insights and supports I gained from these contacts are much more relevant and helpful. I cannot thank Bradley enough for sharing this secret.
Bradley also was very kind to talk contacting companies with me to help me refine my game plan. He later even forwarded me helpful information about my chosen focus area. Thank you Bradley!
I might strongly recommend this book to anyone enthusiastic about getting into or learning more about venture funds., If you're even mildly enthusiastic about the industry, this is a must-read! Miles breaks down finance and capital raising jargon into easy-to-understand conditions and he effectively demystifies any myths related to the. As a student who has heard the term " endeavor capital" bounced around in every day conversation, this book has allowed me to totally understand the nuances and aspects that go into evaluating a company as a venture capitalist. Miles approaches the in a friendly and welcoming tone, which makes the publication an easy and fun read.
I highly suggest this book for any students who have heard of venture funds but don't exactly know very well what it is, that are enthusiastic about starting their own businesses, or who are enthusiastic about learning how a business operates and the financing behind it all., I read this book as someone who runs an ignition program and helps support folks get their early on stage businesses started. The things i found particularly useful was your glossary of conditions at the back of the book! As an entrepreneur, it is upwards to you to learn as much as possible. Bradley makes it easier by offering plenty of resources of individuals that you should be following and learning from. I think this book is beneficial to business owners who are not going after VC funding. It offers an overview of finances that each entrepreneur or business owner should feel confident in their ability to understand the terminology. This particular will serve you whether approaching the bank for a loan or a VC. Remember 97% of businesses are bootstrapped. There are other sources of credit away there. A good thing you can do for your business is KNOW YOUR NUMBERS. You don't need VC funding to possess a successful business. This book may help put together you for whatever way you decide is best.
Also, I love how receptive and accessible Bradley is to responding to email messages and helping folks away!
