Lesson 1: Setup a simple Senkin run with GRI 3.0 mechanism

Objective: use Senkin GUI to set-up a run for well-stirred reactor with GRI 3.0 mechanism

Prerequsite: In order to run a SENKIN run, three files are needed: (i) a kinetic mechanism file, (ii) a thermochemical data file associated with the kinetic mechanism and (iii) a SENKIN input files. Here is the GRI 3.0 kinetic mechansim and the thermochemical data file

• grimech30.dat: A reaction mechanism and rate coefficient file, in Chemkin format
• thermo30.dat : A thermochemical data file to be used with grimech30.dat, as NASA polynomial coefficients
• senkin.inp : SENKIN input file
  

Procedure:

• Initiate SENKIN GUI by clicking on the icon
• Upload the kinetic mechanism and the thermodynamics files above.
• Do the same thing with the Senkin input file.
• After loading the three files. The GUI should be like this

• You can modify the Senkin input parameters directly from the GUI. For example, you can turn the option "Perform Sensitivity Analysis" by checking the corresponding box.
• In order the check whether the kinetics mechanism file is consitent with the thermodynamics file, click on the button  
• If they are consistent, a pop-up window appears with the message " NO ERRORS FOUND ON INPUT...CHEMKIN LINKING FILE WRITTEN' at the end of the file
